The project

According to the 2010 world population estimates, approximately 15% of the population, that is, approximately 1 billion people, live with a disability. In all countries, the highest rates of disability were found among women, the elderly and vulnerable groups in economic poverty. Barriers increase the disadvantages people experience. A large proportion of people with disabilities are marginalized due to social attitudes, official policies and physical barriers. Removing these barriers is key to empowering people with disabilities and enabling them to fulfill their responsibilities as citizens in their homes, communities and workplaces. On the other hand, the bow and arrow, which has a history dating back almost 20 thousand years, have been important war tools for most of history. With the development and widespread use of firearms, the bow and arrow disappeared from the battlefields in both the East and the West, but archery has survived as a difficult and entertaining sport, and has continued its development from various branches until today. The development of archery as a sport has led to the formation of modern archery with different bow and arrow mechanisms. Only modern archery has become popular at the Olympics and other official competitions. Traditional archery has struggled to survive with the efforts of some local associations and individuals. However, both in European societies and Turks, traditional archery has been a special field that includes cultural and philosophical teachings, not just a means of war or sports. The tools of traditional archery have been used in history as a tool to gain philosophical insight, with teachings such as the zen technique in Europe and mystical teachings in the Turks. The fact that only modern archery was included in official competitions caused traditional archery to be forgotten and all of them were in danger of disappearing. In the 2018 European Year of Cultural Heritage, traditional archery as an intangible cultural heritage needs to be revived in Europe and to raise awareness of this cultural heritage. The EU-ARCHERITAGE project is a project prepared with a determined target for the above two issues, the needs of which have been disclosed, both within the Europe 2020 strategy and the 2018 European Year of Cultural Heritage. The specific goal of the EU-ARCHERITAGE project is “To increase the physical and social capacities of adults with disabilities, through the acquisition of new skills for traditional archery sport and culture, and to improve their social cohesion for inclusive growth and to raise awareness of the traditional archery cultural heritage in the EU”. The target group of the project is Europe. Adults with disabilities in. When the specific objective of the project is achieved, it will contribute to the overall objective of the project, “A harmonious society and inclusive growth in Europe”. The project specific objective will be achieved by achieving two different project results, with a set of activities to be implemented and the outputs obtained from them. These results and the activities to achieve these results are planned as follows.
